How to do Smith Machine Decline Press

Step-by-step

  1. Place a decline bench under the Smith machine so the bar lowers to your lower chest
  2. Lock your feet into the supports and grip the bar slightly wider than shoulder width
  3. Rotate the bar off the rack and lower it under control to your lower chest
  4. As it lightly touches your chest, drive the bar back up powerfully
  5. At the end of the set, rotate the bar back onto the safety hooks

Coaching tip

Let the bar come down to your lower chest; lock your feet firmly into the bench supports.
