How to do Flat Dumbbell Press

Step-by-step

  1. Sit with the dumbbells resting on your thighs, then lie back while using your knees to kick the dumbbells up
  2. Lie on your back, pinch your shoulder blades together, and hold the dumbbells at chest level about shoulder-width apart
  3. Keep your palms facing forward with your elbows at a 45-degree angle to your body
  4. Press the dumbbells up under control and bring them slightly toward each other at the top
  5. Lower the dumbbells slowly back to chest level and feel the stretch

Coaching tip

Lower the dumbbells under control and feel a slight stretch at the bottom.
