Step-by-step

  1. Take a standard push-up position with hands shoulder-width apart and body in a straight line
  2. Lower your chest toward the floor under control
  3. Push up explosively enough for your hands to leave the ground
  4. Keep your arms ready (not rigid) in the air and land softly by bending your elbows
  5. Flow directly from the landing into the lowering phase of the next rep

Coaching tip

Soften the landing by bending your elbows; a stiff landing hammers the wrists and shoulders.
