How to do Dumbbell Bench Press with Neutral Grip

Step-by-step

  1. Lie back on a flat bench holding dumbbells at chest level with palms facing each other
  2. Pinch your shoulder blades together and plant your feet firmly on the floor
  3. Press the dumbbells up while keeping your elbows close to your torso
  4. Bring the dumbbells toward each other at the top without banging them together
  5. Lower under control to the sides of your chest and repeat

Coaching tip

Keep your palms facing each other; this grip protects the shoulders, so keep your elbows close to your torso.
