How to do Bulgarian Split Squat

Step-by-step

  1. Rest the top of one foot on a bench or box behind you.
  2. Place your front foot far enough forward, with your torso upright.
  3. Descend by lowering your back knee toward the floor.
  4. Lower until your front thigh nears parallel, without letting your front knee travel far past your toes.
  5. Drive through the heel of your front foot to stand back up, then switch sides.

Coaching tip

Elevate your rear foot and put the weight on your front leg, without letting your knee travel too far past your toes.
