How to do Pull-Up

Step-by-step

  1. Grip the bar slightly wider than shoulder width with your palms facing forward (pronated).
  2. Hang with your arms fully extended, without swinging.
  3. Initiate the movement by pulling your shoulder blades down and back.
  4. Pull your elbows down to rise until your chin clears the bar.
  5. Lower yourself under control to a full arm hang.

Coaching tip

Depress your scapula first, bring your chin over the bar, and lower under control.
