How to do Wide-Grip Pull-Up

Step-by-step

  1. Grip the bar wider than your shoulders with your palms facing forward.
  2. Pull your shoulders down and back and keep your body slightly tight.
  3. Pull your elbows out and down to raise your body until your chin clears the bar.
  4. Squeeze your back at the very top.
  5. Lower under control until your arms are fully extended.

Coaching tip

Set your hands wider than your shoulders, bring your chest toward the bar, and work the outer upper back.
