How to do Standing Dumbbell Press

Step-by-step

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and bring the dumbbells to shoulder level
  2. Palms face forward or slightly inward
  3. Squeeze your glutes and abs, then press the dumbbells overhead
  4. Bring the dumbbells slightly together at the top without fully locking the elbows
  5. Lower under control back to shoulder level

Coaching tip

Lock your torso by squeezing your glutes and abs; the standing press is also a core exercise.
