How to do Single-Arm Dumbbell Row

Step-by-step

  1. Place one knee and the same-side hand on a bench to support your torso parallel to the floor.
  2. Grip the dumbbell off the floor with your other hand, letting your arm hang down.
  3. Keep your back flat and your torso stable, without twisting.
  4. Pull the dumbbell up toward your hip by drawing your elbow back.
  5. Squeeze your shoulder blade and lower the dumbbell back down under control.

Coaching tip

Place one hand and knee on a bench, pull the dumbbell toward your hip, and keep your back stable.
