Step-by-step
- Place the bar across the back of your shoulders on your traps and set your feet shoulder-width apart.
- Bend your knees very slightly and set your back in a straight line from head to hips.
- Push your hips back to hinge your torso forward until it is nearly parallel to the floor.
- Stop when you feel a stretch in your hamstrings and glutes, keeping your back flat throughout.
- Drive your hips forward to bring your torso back to the starting position under control.
Coaching tip
Hinge at the hips and keep your back flat; start with a light weight and feel the tension in your hamstrings.
