How to do Cable Shoulder Press

Step-by-step

  1. Set a bench in the middle of a dual cable station or stand; bring the low-pulley handles to shoulder level
  2. Hold the handles at shoulder height with palms facing forward
  3. Brace your core and press the handles overhead
  4. Bring the handles slightly together at the top
  5. Lower under control back to shoulder level

Coaching tip

Cables keep tension even at the bottom of the movement; that constant resistance is the difference from dumbbells.
