Step-by-step

  1. Face a wall and place your hands on it
  2. Extend one leg back with the heel down and knee straight
  3. Bend your front knee to bring your body toward the wall
  4. When you feel the stretch in the back calf, hold for 30 seconds
  5. Switch sides and repeat

Coaching tip

The back knee must stay straight; if it bends, the stretch shifts from the gastrocnemius to the soleus.
