Step-by-step

  1. Grip the bar from the floor with a wide (snatch) grip, feet hip-width apart, back flat and chest open.
  2. Keeping the bar close to your legs, pull it up to your knees under control.
  3. Explosively extend your hips and legs and rise onto your toes to give the bar a powerful drive.
  4. Quickly drop under the bar and catch it overhead with arms fully locked out in a single motion.
  5. Stabilize and stand up, then lower the bar under control.

Coaching tip

Use a wide grip and move the bar explosively overhead in one motion.
