How it is calculated
Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the energy your body spends at complete rest for vital functions only, about 60–70% of total daily expenditure. Mifflin-St Jeor (1990) is the most accurate general equation today: 10×weight + 6.25×height − 5×age + 5 for men, −161 for women. Harris-Benedict is older (1919, revised 1984) and tends to overestimate in heavier people; it is shown for comparison.
Formulas can underestimate BMR in very muscular people. FitCi corrects your target weekly from your weigh-ins; the formula is only the starting point.
FitCi recalculates your target every week
It adapts your calories from your weigh-ins and logs; you just track.
